Parent Teacher Conferences

Hello All. Parent teacher conferences are on the evening of February 24 and all day February 25th.

They are 20 minute long conferences. I would love to chat with each and every family. I can certainly brag about your child for longer than 20 minutes but  I am following the standards for the school.

Please do not feel that these conferences are mandatory. They are completely optional. If you have had a recent IEP or your annual IEP is coming up soon, then the conference may not be needed.

The following times are available:

Feb. 24

5:30 - 7:30 pm

Feb. 25

All day beginning at 9:00 am - 8:00 pm

Please email me with your preferred time.

It's Febraury!

Hello All!
I feel as if it has been such a long time since I have posted. My apologies. Here are some bullet points of important information.

There is NO SCHOOL on  Thursday, February 25th and Friday the 26th! (I'm sending home new calendars with this correction.)

~ Conferences will be held the evening of Feb. 24th and all day Feb. 25th.

~For the Monthly Homework - Please work with your child to make Valentine cards for their friends. We will be working on this during class as well. You DO NOT need to also purchase Valentine cards.

Valentine Celebration will be on Feb. 12th

Thank you to all of you who sent snack in. The kids are enjoying the variety.

We finished up our dinosaur unit. We talked about large herbivores, small carnivores, and medium sized omnivores. The fact books came home on Friday. The students really enjoyed the unit. We ended the unit by becoming archeologists. We watched the video of the bones being discovered at OSU (Go Beavers!) and looked closely at the picture of the bones. We decided they were VERY dirty and the backhoe was very cool! Then we unearthed our very own dinosaurs from eggs. We used special archeologist spray to clean the "dirt" from the dinosaurs. We had to be very careful because bones that old are very delicate. Only two of the 10 students decided they wanted to be paleontologists.

We also did some great cooking in January. Dinosaur eggs (rice krispy treats with oreo cookies) and snowmen made from donuts. I am looking forward to some more fun cooking in February.

We are behind schedule as far as the curriculum that I'd like to get through but we'll make it. We are just beginning our solar system unit. The 5th graders will go into more depth of the system and the 3rd grade will begin to just touch on it.  I love this unit and am excited to be able to explore the solar system with your children.

We have had a flu but going around the classroom which seems to be accompanied by NO other symptoms except vomit and diarrhea. There is also a cold virus going. We are sanitizing like crazy in the classroom. Remember to keep your students home if they have a fever of 100.5, a uncontrollable cough, vomiting, or diarrhea.
